Highlights from some of our favourite events this year
Through a series of carefully curated events this year, we have had the privilege to bring our mission to regenerate heritage weaving skills to a larger audience, while showcasing our handcrafted collections, the skills of our incredibly talented artisans, and fostering collaborations with other businesses and extensive communities.
The Comoshambala Estate in Ubud, Bali, provided the perfect backdrop to showcase our artisans at work and discuss our commitment to making in communities, not factories. The week-long event launched with a ‘Como Conversation’ between our Founder, Lorna Watson and Janet de Neefe, the founder of Ubud Writers Festival where we shared our experiences and insights on the importance of cultural sustainability and transparent business practices. The event featured a pop up, showcasing a range of our handwoven bags and accessories, supported by a series of immersive artisan weaving demonstrations where guests experienced the intricacy and beauty of Balinese weaving processes firsthand.
Co-hosted by Design Anthology and Jia by OCK, an immersive weekend of Craft, Design, and Culture was held in the dramatic, previously derelict, Bali Festival Park where our founder, Lorna was invited to join their 360º Design Dialogues: a
series of illuminating panel discussions exploring what it means to be ‘in process’ - the modern artisan and the role of craft today, and how design, craft and community can be used to shape a better future.
STELAR’s month-long collaboration with sustainable brand Heveya in Bali provided the opportunity to showcase a range of our latest innovative woven goods, culminating in a series of unique interactive events in Heveya’s beautiful showroom that included live weaving demonstrations and artisan-led masterclasses that immersed guests in the journey of weaving in Balinese culture.
In addition to showcasing our collections at our Pop Up at The Legian Hotel in Seminyak, we have also been committed to building partnerships that support us to educate our customers and inspire the next generation of weavers.
Throughout the summer season, our series of LHM Masterclasses provided aspiring artisans and guests of the hotel with the opportunity to learn from highly experienced weavers and develop their skills.
Such was the momentum that grew from this, LHM invited us to cohost an immersive masterclass event in London in September, showcasing our artisans and their heritage skills to their top international concierge partners.
The Further East Luxury Travel Event in November brought together the most innovative minds in the industry to brainstorm opportunities for unique and immersive destination experiences. STELAR was invited along to demonstrate our ‘best in class’ woven collections and artisan-led weaving activations and we received an overwhelming response, with lots of new opportunities opening up in the new year.
Through these unique events and collaborations, we have had the privilege to showcase our exceptional handcrafted collections as well as play a crucial role in communicating and demonstrating the value of handcraftsmanship in today’s society. By supporting artisan communities and fostering an international appreciation for heritage weaving, STELAR is helping to ensure that this timeless art form continues to thrive for generations to come.
We hope to see you at our next EXPERIENCE.
