Lorna Loves: Jane Birkin
We dive into the world of STELAR's founder for our 'Lorna Loves' series. This time we discover Lorna's affinity with, and appreciation for, the late Jane Birkin, who hasn't been far from her thoughts over recent weeks.
Iconic effortlessness: Jane Birkin touched the hearts of so many with her accessible, timeless style. Often photographed barefoot, her iconic effortlessness really embodies the spirit of STELAR style. And her grace and ease with herself, as well as with others, is reflective of everything we love about the Balinese.
Joy and purpose: Jane Birkin was the ultimate 70’s french fashion icon, artist and musician, and she epitomised ‘la joie de vivre’. Yet, she is also widely celebrated as an activist, advocating for causes close to our heart - including women's rights.
Ethereal in voice: Her ethereal singing voice stopped us all in our tracks when we were younger. She was the ultimate muse for ‘la chanson française’ - a distinct genre of music intertwined with French culture and history. And, her numerous iconic creative collaborations with Serge Gainsbourgh will never be forgotten.
Her handbags: Jane's love for a roomy, oversized bag that could carry literally everything resonates with me completely. I love how she adopted a fisherman's wicker basket as her handbag of choice after coming across it in Portugal in the ‘60s. She personalised her bags with charms, keys and memory-markers in the same way we love to customise our STELAR bags. And, she will forever be immortalised through the most iconic ‘Birkin’ handbag, which still has a waiting list.
